Mindful Eating for Better Living: A Partially Silent Five-Night Retreat

In this warm and welcoming 5-night retreat, we’ll explore mindfulness as a tool to free ourselves from unhealthy eating habits and rediscover a joyful relationship with food and body image.

Western culture has an extreme preoccupation with weight, leading many of us to develop unhealthy patterns around food and dieting. Mindful eating offers us a pathway to reclaim feelings of self-acceptance, develop a joyful relationship with our bodies, and nourish our bodies with love and intention. Throughout this partially silent retreat, we'll explore a variety of mindfulness practices to help us become aware of how we relate to eating and to living, moment-to-moment.

Together, we will:

- Engage in community conversations—giving voice to our lived experiences surrounding food and body image.
- Track direct sensory experiences through thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations in the body.
- Explore a variety of mindfulness practices to heal our relationships with food and body image, including sitting and walking meditation, silent periods, mindful movement, writing, and intentional discussions.
- Enjoy a thoughtful balance of both silent and non-silent periods. Silent practices will encourage inner reflection, while non-silent periods will cultivate community and connection.
- Finish the retreat with a fresh perspective and a new set of tools for creating a joyful, harmonious relationship with your weight, eating habits, and body image.

Please note: Mindful Eating is not a diet, nor is it focused on nutritional counseling. Instead, it seeks to create harmony between the self and nourishment. Dr. Marianela Medrano trained in Mindful Eating-Conscious Living™ with the approach developer, Jan Chozen Bays, MD. Activities are suitable for all levels.
